Chronic Heterotopia
Chronic Heterotopia is a new work-in-progress series of crip futurist assisted-self portraits which uses digital collage to re-contextualise portraits in imagined landscapes and asks us to consider those living on the margins, in heterotopias of the sick when imagining the future. It explores the idea of the heterotopia in relation to chronic illness and crip time.
I will be developing these ideas into an audio-visual piece using archival footage from my recent hospitalisation for neurosurgery. I will also be experimenting with ways of making the project tactile.
